An estimated 1,300 people attended to try out the wide variety of beers offered
MARQUETTE -- Beer lovers and beer brewers flocked to Marquette's Mattson Lower Harbor Park Saturday for the third annual Beer Fest.
An estimated 1,300 people attended to try out the wide variety of beers offered. All of the beers for tasting were local brews, since the event was sponsored by the Michigan Brewer's Guild.
"We annually spend almost $150 million in taxes to the federal and state level," said Steve Bethel, Director of the MI Brewer's Guild. "We employ over 4,500 people in this industry, and for the last six years, the brewery industry in Michigan has grown double-digit growth every year, and no other industry in the state can say that."
There are over 100 breweries in the state of Michigan. And to accompany the ones at today's Brew Fest, live music was sure to keep the crowds happy as they sipped their hops.
