ESCANABA -- Marquette General Hospital broke ground on a new $11 million primary and specialty health care clinic facility in Escanaba on Thursday morning.  The future facility will replace the current Doctors Park building near Seventh Avenue.

Some of the things to look forward to will be a laboratory, a blood donor clinic and spaces for physical therapy.

Officials said they hope Delta County residents will really appreciate the availability of primary and specialty health care services offered by Marquette General Hospital.

"Well, you know, health care is changing, and the new model is really a primary care base where you have a home for patients," said MGH President and CEO Gary Muller.  "And this home will be Doctors Park as it has been for 20 years.  So we want to make that where they come when they need help."

The new facility is being developed by Duke Realty.  The opening date is set for fall of 2012.
