It was the type of holiday parade you don't see often at the U.P. fairgrounds in Escanaba Saturday
ESCANABA -- A parade of more than a dozen current and antique models of tractors made their way around the fairgrounds as part of the U.P. Steam and Gas Engine Association's 36th annual show.
Organizers say the event has something for everyone, including a giant flea market, equipment demonstrations, and a museum.
This year they're highlighting John Deere tractors and farm equipment.
They say just looking at some of these old models is much better than actually using them.
"The last thing you'd want to do today would be to try to farm with one of these things," says Skip Dufour, president of the U.P. Steam and Gas Association. "It's just a tremendous amount of change, and that's part of what makes it real interesting for people."
And some of Saturday's participants say agriculture is vital to the area, and they expect it to increase in the future.
