Campaigning for the seat of Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow continues throughout the state of Michigan and the U.P.
NEGAUNEE TWP. -- U.S. Senate candidate Peter Konetchy of downstate Roscommon recently stopped at the TV6 studios to tell us more about what he stands for: issues like energy independence and removing federal influence.
Konetchy is a first-time politician who owns and operates his own business. Konetchy is also a self-proclaimed consitutional conservative who wants to cut federal spending, cut taxes, and have a limited government.
"The greatness of this country is because of limited government, but now every other candidate may want to slow government growth, but they're not talking about cutting government. So right now, our spending is roughly 26 percent of gross domestic product, and that's not sustainable," says Konetchy.
Konetchy is one of four Republicans looking to beat incumbent Democrat Debbie Stabenow.
