Seniors in Newberry celebrated the end of summer and National Senior Citizens Day Friday with some bingo and a luncheon

NEWBERRY -- More than a hundred seniors came out to the National Senior Citizens Day celebration which was hosted by the Chippewa Luce Mackinac Community Action Agency.

Guests competed in contests like 'Who's the Oldest Senior?' and 'Senior with the Longest Gray Hair.'

Participants we spoke with say the best part of the event is catching up with friends and meeting new people.

"We all come out and have a good time, and it's a good way to get seniors out in the community and involved," says Newberry resident Cheryl Withraw.  "Just the camaraderie, the socialization is great, we have a wonderful time."

The C.L.M. Community Action Agency works to keep area seniors active and healthy.
