MARQUETTE -- It's lights, camera, action for kids taking part in this year's Lake Superior Theatre's Drama and Dreams Playscape Summer Camp, a one week theatre camp for kids.
Eighteen kids are spending the week in Marquette, writing their own scripts and songs for the camp finale on Thursday night...a live performance for family and friends.
The camp is designed to help kids, including those with special needs, work on various skill sets. Participating kids are encouraged to play and explore when it comes to performing.
"This camp is about seeing what the kids want to do and trying to take what they want to do and form it into more traditional aspects of theatre," said Camp Counselor Carrie Seavoy. "We teach them the basic skills of stage direction and what a director does and what a stage manager does, but generally we cater it to what they want to do."
This is the third year for the drama camp, which is supported through various grants.
