GLADSTONE -- A Gladstone woman who was involved in a traffic accident Friday afternoon has died from her injuries.

The accident happened just before 12:30 p.m. on M-35 near North 17th Street in Gladstone.

Police say a Chevy Blazer driven by a 34-year-old Gladstone woman crossed the center line on M-35 and hit a pickup truck driven by a 59-year-old Gladstone man.  Another vehicle then hit the rear of the pickup truck.

The driver of the Blazer and pickup truck were both taken to OSF St. Francis Hospital where the driver of the Blazer later died from her injuries.

"It's a residential area, a business area.  The speed limit probably should be slower here as it is anyway.  I think it should be down to about 35 mph through here with all the traffic that comes in and out of this place," said North 17th Street neighborhood resident, Doug Cole.

The names of those involved in the accident have not been released yet.

Traffic on M-35 was rerouted for about 2 1/2 hours after the accident.
