ELY TOWNSHIP -- A two car crash in Ely Township caused serious damage to both vehicles involved but no serious injuries.

The crash happened at around 1:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Krista Kelsey, 25, of Marquette was turning her Jeep Grand Cherokee left into Lawry's Pasty Shop on US-41, just west of County Road 496, when a Dodge Dakota struck her car from behind.  The jeep then spun 180 degrees.

The driver of the Dodge, 36-year-old Jody Hensen of Iron River, was cited for failure to stop the vehicle in a clear, assured distance.

Both cars needed to be towed from the scene.

Michigan State Police and the Ishpeming Township Fire Department responded to the accident.
