MUNISING -- About 100 women are preparing to participate in the 8th Annual Ladies of the Lake sea kayak symposium.
Wednesday, organizers were setting up for the all-female event in Munising at Sydney's Restaurant. Women will be coming in to participate from five different states, as far away as Colorado.
Everything kicks off Thursday starting with pre-registered shoreline tours.
On water classes will begin Friday and will teach different techniques including strokes, rescues, and bracing.
"Most of the participants will have their own gear and boats with them, but we do have rentals available for those who are beginning or don't have their own equipment," said event coordinator, Heidi Depuytt.
