HOUGHTON -- Michigan Tech has announced the hiring of 11 new faculty members as part of its strategic faculty hiring initiative.
Seven of the newly hired researchers will work in cross-disciplinary health areas that include basic science, technologies and medical informatics. The other four will conduct research in next generation energy systems.
The university says it's continuing to search for people to fill positions in the energy initiative, focusing on smart grids and hybrid vehicles.
The initiative started in 2007 when the MTU board made a commitment to enlarge the faculty by up to 10 people each year.
