The old movie theatre is now an eclectic gift and coffee shop
ISHPEMING -- The Butler Theatre in Ishpeming is easily one of the most eclectic spots in the central U.P.
From consignment jewelry to used books to a farmer's market, the historical building has a little bit of everything, and that's what makes the Butler Theatre a FOX UP Hidden Treasure.
Although it's hard to categorize the shop by what it offers, managers say the theater specializes in unique U.P. products.
The Butler Theatre has over 5,000 used books for sale, work from nearly twenty U.P. artists, and a year-round Thursday farmer's market. But the Butler Theatre is far from just a shop. It also features weekly live entertainment.
"Ultimately what I'd like to do is turn this back into a theater, more of a sit down, tableside type theatre, have live events and go back into the movies, old time movies for a dollar," says Butler Theater Manager Rich Devlin.
Devlin says his next big project is to expand the Butler's coffee operation. For more on the goings on at the Butler, click here.
