CALUMET -- The Houghton County Sheriff's Department is investigating a fire they are calling a case of arson in Calumet.

Shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday, a passerby noticed an orange glow coming from the Pattern Storage Building at the Coppertown Mining Museum.

Calumet Township Firefighters responded to the scene and quickly put down the blaze.  When they went through the building, firefighters found that entry was made through a boarded up window on the west side.

Several pieces of timber inside the structure were set on fire.

Anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity near the building or may have more information about it is asked to contact the Houghton County Sheriff's Department at (906) 482-0055.
