LANSING (AP) -- Some Michigan lawmakers want to change or clarify the voter-approved state law that allows marijuana to be used for medical purposes.

Multiple bills have been introduced recently with more on the way in coming months.  Some of the bills would require stricter doctor-patient relationships before a patient could get authorization to use the drug.

Some of the legislative changes proposed would require support from three-fourths majorities in both the Republican-led House and Senate because the law was originally approved by voters.

The law has sparked confusion as local governments, police, patients and businesses try to sort out exactly what's legal.

Medical marijuana advocates are worried lawmakers might try to make it more difficult for patients to obtain the drug.
