MARQUETTE -- The line stretched out the door during registration for the 12th Annual Marquette General Health Systems Ore to Shore Mountain Bike Epic.

Race organizers said they expect a near record number of participants for this year's race.  Approximately 1,700 riders had already signed up for the three races.

With the added children's races Saturday, officials say this year's event is more family friendly than ever.

"At all ages, from three years old, barely able to push the pedals, all the way to age 16.  Some are very fast.  When we got 400 to 600 kids, it's a big wave of kids.  Grandma and grandpa are watching, so it's a family event." said race organizer, Scott Tuma.

The Ore to Shore also held a bike expo during registration.  Vendor's were on hand, showcasing the newest biking products.
