MARQUETTE -- Several immigrants at Friday's Naturalization Ceremony in Marquette were sworn into citizenship.  The ceremony commenced with the Pledge of Allegiance and a performance of the national anthem.

There is a variety of reasons for becoming a United States citizen.  Stephen Forsberg's wife, Andrea, moved to the states 20 years ago, but she's finally made the decision to become an American after her green card expired.

"She decided she had to because she went back to Germany for schooling for 11 months, and you can't leave the country and come back," said Forsberg.  "So, she had a re-entry permit to back to this country, but, then we decided, if she ever has to go home again, she needs a U.S. citizenship."

There were several guest speakers present, like the mayor of Marquette.

Red, white, and blue refreshments were served afterwards.
