SAWYER -- Kids at Sawyer saddled up for the bike rodeo Wednesday.

Nearly 50 young riders in Sawyer got free, brand new bike helmets fitted just for them.  The helmets were provided by the Kohls Cares Program.

Kids could also get their tires filled up with air, their chains checked, and seats adjusted.

The goal of the bike rodeo is to promote safety.

"If children can learn hand signals--if they're going to turn right or left--the important thing is to try to stay on a bike path if you can because if you're on a highway, it's just very dangerous with the cars and the speeds that they're going," said Cindy Ampe from Marquette General.

All Kohls Cares donations go back to Marquette General Hospital's Women's and Children's Center.
