Brandan Lee Monfils faces drug and robbery charges
ESCANABA -- Twenty-two-year-old Brandan Lee Monfils appeared in Delta County District Court Wednesday for his preliminary exam.
There was a motion to add a second count of larceny in an apartment by stealing prescription medications. There was also a motion to add a third count of knowingly and intentionally possessing a controlled substance.
On July 23, Monfils allegedly punched and attempted to choke Joe Rapette, at Rapette's apartment in Harbor Tower.
But Monfils’ mother, Kelly Wakkuri, said that she wants justice for her son, who she said has been wrongly accused.
“The feeling is that he's confused,” explains Wakkuri. “He doesn't understand. He’s hurting, too. It's just all kinds of emotions right now. I wouldn't want anyone else to go through this.”
TV6 contacted Escanaba Public Safety, who stated that they only report facts.
Monfils remains lodged in the Delta County Jail.
