Forgotten Eagles stop in Negaunee
NEGAUNEE -- The Forgotten Eagles stopped in Negaunee during their motorcycle ride across Michigan to raise funds for veterans as well as prisoner of war and missing in action causes.
The organization has become the largest contributor to the Michigan Veteran's Trust Fund, donating over $100,000 since 2002.
Participants say the ride has a become a yearly tradition.
"It's an annual stopover for the Forgotten Eagles on their annual Michigan run to raise funds for the Jacobetti Center and the Grand Rapids' home," said Marquette Vietnam Veterans President Steve Mahaffey. "We offer riders a rest stop here, and we give them a meal and refreshments and send them on their way."
The ride will end on Friday at Houghton Lake.
Participants will then continue on a freedom ride ending at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Mount Pleasant.
