MARQUETTE -- The Marquette County Health Department promoted good health through breastfeeding Wednesday afternoon in Mattson Lower Harbor.
The health department's Women Infant Children Program held a walk at noon to draw awareness to the health benefits of breastfeeding. This month is Breastfeeding Awareness Month.
Breastfeeding facts were posted around the Lower Harbor path to educate participants. Research has shown that breastfeeding can prevent cancer and help with a baby's facial development.
"Breastfeeding is a very healthy thing to do and walking is a healthy thing to do, so pairing them together makes sense, and it's also a great activity that families can come out and do together," said organizer Linda Marshall.
