He crashed his logging truck into a tree

CRYSTAL FALLS TOWNSHIP -- The driver of a logging truck, identified as 40-year-old Shawn Tronti of Iron River, has been taken into custody after crashing into a tree and holding deputies at bay with a running chainsaw.

The incident happened on US-2 in Crystal Falls Township at 9:56 a.m. Thursday.

Iron County Sheriff's deputies who responded to the accident found Tronti standing in a ditch with a running chainsaw.  He was yelling for people to stay back and leave him alone. 

After negotiations failed, two deputies approached Tronti from the rear and tasered him.

He was taken to Northstar Hospital in Iron River for a mental health evaluation.
