ESCANABA -- Up to 20 vintage modified cars from the 1960s and 1970s will be hitting the U.P. State Fairgrounds in Escanaba on Saturday.

Most of the drivers are part of the Milwaukee Vintage Mods Club.  They're going to be racing around the track and showing off their rides to the public.

Joe Piron's car was just a frame when he bought it 10 years ago.  His hobby is restoring vintage cars, and it took him about eight years, on and off, to get his up to speed.

"I think it's going to bring back a lot of memories," said Track Coordinator Thomas Dubord.  "A lot of people grew up watching these cars race, and we have people all over the U.P., and even Canada, calling and asking about it."

Upper Peninsula International Raceway organizers said they're hoping Saturday's event draws current and new fans to the track.
