ESCANABA -- Michigan Works is partnering with local manufacturing companies to show job seekers what manufacturing positions are out there.
The free informational tour will take place at Engineered Machined Products in Escanaba on Friday.
Representatives from Van Aire, Systems Control, and Boss Snowplow will also be there scouring for qualified applicants with mechanical abilities.
There are entry level jobs like CNC operators and welders, and these jobs may eventually lead to management positions.
"Manufacturing careers in our region make up a large percentage of the jobs in our region, which is actually a surprise to a lot of people," said Holly Peoples of Michigan Works. "They're very much family sustaining jobs compared to others. They have a tendency to pay a little higher and have better benefits than jobs in other sectors might."
