MENOMINEE -- Thirty-three-year old Louis Wayne Cuff of Menominee plead guilty to three counts of food stamp fraud in Menominee County District Court on Tuesday.

Cuff allegedly bought food, such as steak and lobster, with his girlfriend's bridge card and then sold the food for half the price on three different occasions.

Each of the three misdemeanors are punishable by up to 93 days in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.

“You know, a citizen just plead guilty to three 93 day misdemeanors,” explains Prosecuting Attorney, Daniel Hass.  “And in my view, that's very serious.  So hopefully the message is out there that we're going to be watching this fraud closely, and if we come across these cases, we will prosecute.”

Cuff's sentencing is scheduled for August 24 in Menominee County District Court.
