HOUGHTON COUNTY -- A motorcyclist who died after crashing into the rear end of a dump truck on Monday has been identified as 48-year-old Matthew Blumer of Elk Mound, Wisconsin.

The crash happened when a dump truck, driven by 52-year-old James Kerchefski of Rock Springs, Wisconsin, went to make a left-hand turn on M-26 onto Janovsky Road.

Blumer somehow became distracted and was unable to stop in time for the truck, according to the Houghton County Sheriff's Department.

Blumer was pronounced dead at the scene.  Kerchefski received no injuries.

Alcohol, drugs and speed are not believed to be factors in the crash.
