Renovations are underway at Lions Field, ahead of its dedication event August 6
MARQUETTE TWP. -- Marquette Township leaders hope the new state-of-the-art field will re-engage residents with the community and promote sports, like softball and Little League baseball.
The old perimeter fence is being demolished to make way for a newer one that will provide greener space and an area for onlookers.
"The whole point of this is to revitalize this area and bring the focus back out on it," says Marquette Twp. Manager Randy Girard. "We are going to be bringing more people into the community."
Next year, the township plans to install a basketball court to accompany the tennis court.
And young children will not be forgotten with plans in the works to fix up the playground across the street.
