MARQUETTE COUNTY -- Most Marquette residents can't think of summer without the County Fair, but they may not know that the fair needs their help to continue.
In the last few years, the fair stopped receiving any funding from the county or state, instead raising their own funds as a non-profit organization. Most of their funding comes from gate sales, vendor fees, and some from winter storage fees.
Organizers want to remind county residents that attending the fair can help keep it going while providing a great time.
"If we don't get the people through the gates, we will have financial funding issues, so we encourage everybody to come out. Rain or shine or whatever, we're going to put on a good show," said Marquette County Fair President Bill Hager.
Other ways residents can help is for local businesses to purchase booths and sponsor events.
The grounds are also available for rent on the off season for events such as weddings and reunions.
