Summertime is a time for festivals here in the Upper Peninsula, and with so many options, a Yooper may wonder where to begin. Well here at TV6, we've got you covered.
If you missed the July 4th International Food Fest in Lower Harbor or the U.P.-defining Pasty Festival, don't worry. Those festivity favorites are just the tip of the summer outdoor event iceberg.
Whatever end of the U.P. you are traveling to this season, you are bound to find a festival underway. So what are the ones you just cannot miss? We asked our Facebook fans.
Joy Bender Hadley suggests the Hiawatha Music Festival. She said it helps the local economy and it's a big family event and tradition. The song celebration kicks off July 22 this year, wrapping up on the 24th.
Going to be in the Western U.P.? Jessi Stolberg Verville suggests you slap on your cowboy boots and hit up the Championship Rodeo concert in Iron River at the Iron County Fair Grounds.
And if the Copper Country is on your calendar this weekend, check out the Strawberry Festival in Chassell. There will be plenty of fruit and festivities to go around. But act quickly, the festival ends tomorrow evening!
Haven't planned your Labor Day getaway just yet? Our friends in Ontonagon are holding their Labor Day Festival.
Or if you feel like celebrating early, the Seafood Fest is just a week before the holiday and has lots of delicious eats.
And, of course, there are plenty of other festivals for you to enjoy throughout the summer season; we just couldn't pack them all into one story. Below, we've provided a list of other events we found. If we missed any, please leave a comment on our website or post it on our Facebook page for everyone to check out.
