IRON MOUNTAIN -- The stairs at Pine Mountain are well known to just about any sports enthusiast in Dickinson County, and now they are getting a makeover.

The Dickinson County YMCA, along with the Kiwanis Ski Club, is raising money to repair and renovate the stairs.  The stairs are a popular exercise location for people throughout the area.  They are also very popular for spectators during the annual ski jumping event.

Organizers are asking people to buy stairs to help fund the project, and one stair has already been purchased.

"Anybody that's ever run the steps, taken pictures from the great Pine Mountain, or has been to a ski tournament; that they're very necessary, and we've got to have new steps," said Iron Mountain native Steve Mariucci.  "You know I used to run those steps; I don't anymore.  Maybe I'll think about it when we build some new steps."

Anybody interested in donating can go the YMCA's website.
