MARQUETTE -- With the Ore to Shore Mountain Bike Epic about a month away, racers big and small are getting ready.

The Junior Mountain Biking Club met Tuesday morning to prepare for the 25-mile race.  They went over some obstacles which help simulate some of the challenges they may encounter on the trails so they can practice their balance.

"They're progressing along and keep building their skills," said Jeff Stasser of Down Wind Sports.  "It's amazing how much better the kids do after a few weeks riding with the Junior Mountain Biking Club."

Organizers say the biggest challenge for the kids is learning to eat well and stay hydrated.

The Ore to Shore is August 13.
