After a year hiatus, an annual Fourth of July tradition will return to Ishpeming
ISHPEMING -- The Al Quaal Recreational Park will be buzzing with festivities Monday for Ishpeming's Fourth of July community-wide picnic.
The event kicks off around noon, immediately following the Fourth of July parade, which begins at 10:30 a.m.
Among the event's sponsors is the Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Chamber of Commerce, which praises the picnic's revival.
"This is one of the largest 4th of July celebrations in the Upper Peninsula, and so for the community, it's huge," says GINCC Executive Director Elizabeth Peterson. "It brings people from across the U.P., it brings people from Wisconsin and other parts of the United States, and it's just a very special celebration where people come together every year and enjoy the U.P., enjoy the Fourth of July. It's great to have it back, and I'm looking forward to it!"
Festival-goers will be able to enjoy all kinds of great food, vendors and live music. Children can participate in various games, pony rides, and bounce houses.
The day ends, of course, with fireworks.
