He was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving
MARINETTE, WI (AP) -- The mayor of the northeastern Wisconsin town of Marinette has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
WLUK-TV reports 68-year-old Mayor Robert Harbick was arrested Saturday afternoon in Marinette for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.
According to the Marinette Police Department, officers responded to a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Hall Avenue and Hattie Street about 3:45 p.m. Saturday.
Chief Jeffrey Skorik says Harbick had exited the parking lot of a fast food restaurant and hit a street light on the northeast corner of the intersection. Harbick then returned to the parking lot where officers arrested him.
Officials say he was released from jail Saturday night. He has not been formally charged.
A message left at Harbick's home was not immediately returned Sunday evening.
