FLORENCE COUNTY -- The Florence County Sheriff's Office received a call of a boat crash on Saturday around 5:18 p.m. in North Lake of the Spread Eagle Chain, attributed to speed and alcohol.

A boat driven by 65-year-old Alice Crosson of Kingsford veered to the right, hit the shoreline, became airborne and struck a large tree, according to a witness.  Crosson was launched from the vehicle, struck some trees, and landed in the water.

Crosson was transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, then later taken to Green Bay.

The passenger of the boat, 60-year-old Richard Jerrils, received minor injuries and sought personal treatment.

Several nearby boaters stopped to help give aid to Crosson and secure the area until authorities arrived.

Authorities are still investigating the incident but believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
