LANSING -- Here's some news that you might find a little surprising.

The State House of Representatives voted on Thursday to overwhelmingly to eliminate retiree health coverage for all future and most current state legislators.

Only legislators who had served prior to 2007 and served at least six years would qualify for the benefits.

Current law gives health coverage to all former legislators who served at least six years once they turn 55.
