LANSING -- Some promising economic news for the U.P., the unemployment rate dropped last month.

It's now at 9.9 percent which is down seven tenths of a percent from April.

That also means the U.P. now has a lower jobless rate than the rest of Michigan.

The lowest rate is in Mackinac County, gearing up for the summer season at 6.2 percent.

The highest rate, again, is in Baraga County, but it's now down to 18.7 percent.  Not too long ago, it was up in the twenties.

The full unemployment report can be found here.  You can see total unemployment throughout the U.P.
