MARQUETTE -- Marquette residents signed up their teams and gathered information at the kickoff event for the "Walk to End Alzheimer's."
Wednesday night's event was an open house for participants to sign up their teams, pick up supplies, and get some help with their fund-raising efforts. It was also a chance for those new to the walk to get some information on how they can help.
"We'll help them get signed up, we'll help them get materials, we'll help them hear what the next steps are as they put their team together and raise funds to support the Alzheimer's Association," said U.P. Alzheimer Association representative, Ruth Almen.
New this year is a name change--it was formerly the "Alzheimer's Walk," and the addition of the A-Team program, which provides special benefits to those who pledge $500 or more.
The Walk to End Alzheimer's raises money for services and support for families in the Upper Peninsula affected by the disease and is scheduled for September 24.
