The 2nd annual Family Fun Day raised money for U.P. Child and Family Services
MARQUETTE -- The weather may not have felt like summer on Saturday, but lots of families took advantage of the second annual Family Fun Day hosted by Child and Family Services of the U.P. at Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette.
Arguably the highlight of the event: the pie-in-the-face.
Marquette Mayor John Kivela, Marquette Police Chief Mike Angeli, Chocolay Township Police Chief Greg Zyburt, and local attorney George Hyde, all took a pie in the face for a good cause.
No matter the activity, organizers were again pleased with the turnout and plan to continue putting on the event annually.
"We do this fund-raiser to help out children and families in the whole U.P.," says Child and Family Services Director, Norma Semashko. "We just expected people to come and have a great time, and we just want them to benefit, not only from the money that we raise, but also here and just enjoy themselves with their families."
All proceeds benefitted at-risk kids in all 15 counties of the Upper Peninsula.
