Seafood Fest and Bridgefest start Friday

HOUGHTON -- There are a lot of fun festivals in the Keweenaw each summer, but for many people, the weekend of Bridgefest and Seafood Fest is a favorite.

It all kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday with a feast of seafood available at the Houghton waterfront park.  The annual Bridgefest parade begins two hours later.  This year floats will travel from Hancock to Houghton, and officials promise the city's ongoing construction will be finished in time.

“It's an opportunity for the family to come out, do things together and enjoy some good food, good music and good entertainment,” says Seafood Fest chair/Bridgefest organizer, Dallas Bond.  “You can check out the water ski show on the waterfront or check out the tall ships.”

All of money from Seafood Fest is used by the Houghton Rotary Club to support a number of charitable efforts throughout the community.
