ISHPEMING -- Those looking to dive into Ishpeming mining history can get their fill now that the Cliffs Shaft Mining Museum is open for business.

The mining museum opened this week for their 2011 season, providing tours, artifacts and souvenirs.

New this season are exhibits like a 1928 quilt, framed drawings by Bobbi Ameen, and Ishpeming City Band uniforms donated by the family of Joe Perrault.

Employees of the museum say they're excited to get back into the season, and they have something for people of all ages.

"You've got the little kids coming in; they like looking at all the artifacts.  You have the middle-aged people like to look at rocks and artifacts, and then the older people usually want to talk about the history, you know," said Museum Director Brad Waters.

The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Admission is free, however, donations are always appreciated.

The mining museum is located at 501 W. Euclid, just off Lakeshore Dr.  Call (906) 485-1882 for further information.
