DELTA COUNTY -- A recall hearing to remove Michigan Senator Tom Casperson from office was held in the Delta County Probate Court Thursday.

Judge Robert Goebel Jr., Delta County Treasurer Nancy Kolich, and Delta County Clerk Sandra Buckland all unanimously voted against the recall petitions.

Richard Lake filed the petitions that state Casperson is unfit for office because of his support for the emergency financial manager bill.

Both he and members of the Delta County Democratic Party said this is the first, but not the last, attempt to recall Casperson.

"The next step will be to file more," said Lake.   "I'm not sure how many at this time we will file.  We could file four or six."

Lake said he intended to re-file the petitions and have lawyers clarify the wording based on criticisms given by the panel.
