MARQUETTE -- All local cowboys saddle up because the sixth annual Great Lakes Rodeo is coming to the Marquette County fairgrounds this weekend.
These fairgrounds may appear empty now, but Friday they will start filling up with horses and rodeo fun from across the country. The rodeo starts Saturday and includes roping, riding, and camping, just to name a few.
The event isn't just all about being a cowboy or girl, it's a fund-raiser for local youth.
"Our major mission here at the Great Lakes Rodeo is to raise funds for youth development in Marquette County," said Jessie Melchiori of the Rodeo Committee. "We have been so fortunate for the support of the community that over the last five years, we've been able to donate $10,000 back to youth in the community, whether it be through a 4H group or a preschool group after school program...the list is just never-ending."
Tickets are now available at the Lake Superior Community Partnership. The price is $10 for adults or $5 for kids. Gate prices are $12 for adults and $6 for kids.
There is information on the events taking place this year on the Great Lakes Rodeo website.
