MARQUETTE -- Most kids constantly dream of what they want to be when they grow up.

8-18 Media, the youth journalism bureau of the U.P. Children's Museum, exposes students to journalism and leadership.  The members work in teams to produce stories on youth-related issues for several Marquette media outlets.

Right now, there are 35 students participating in 8-18 Media.

Tuesday, a training session was held for new members joining the Marquette and Ishpeming bureaus.

"Hopefully some skills with learning journalism and seeing news and just area interest in people and meeting people and hearing their stories," said senior Sara Collins.

"I think it's fun to, I guess, research," added senior Courtney Carlson.

New students are trained into the program three times a year.

If you're wondering where the program got the name, the students are ages 8 to 18.
