About 250 riding enthusiasts from across the U.P. took part in this year's show
SANDS TOWNSHIP -- Riding enthusiasts from across the Upper Peninsula converged on the Marquette County Fairgrounds this weekend for the annual Marquette County Horse Club Horse Show.
About 250 people participated in the class shows throughout the weekend. There were four classes today: halter and showmanship, English and Western riding, and speed.
The club sponsors the event for the U.P. Sportsmens Association.
"Our horse club, what we do with the funds that we receive here from our horse club, it's a benefit horse show that we do every year, like I said. We use the money, we try to give back to our community, we've done lots of numerous things," says horse club president Andi Goriesky.
The money raised will go toward the club's general fund, which will then be used to benefit various community organizations. The club also takes care of improvements needed at the fairgrounds.
