Organizers are considering getting more local businesses involved to make it a bigger event in the future

MARQUETTE -- Finally tonight, Bike to Work Day in Marquette County didn't turn out quite as well as hoped. By 8:00 Friday morning, they only had eleven people registered at this pit stop outside of the Marquette Mall.

They say last year they had 50 people register. Some of the people that did participate today made it a special occasion, waking up early, even driving to this pit stop to unload and pedal to work.

"Surprisingly, I got up really early this a.m. to do it with a co-worker, and I'm a lot more awake then I thought," said cyclist, Tracy Major. "It was fun, if I lived closer, I could bike to work everyday, and I probably would.

In the future, officials are considering getting more local businesses involved to make this a bigger event. And if you missed out on bike to work day this year because you don't actually own a bike, you can register to win a mountain bike sponsored by local retailers.
