IRON MOUNTAIN -- You never know when disaster can strike and Thursday WE Energies along with a dozen local agencies made sure they were prepared.
The energy company hosted a mock disaster exercise at Pine Grove in Iron Mountain.
The goal was to evaluate how WE Energies along with local sheriff departments, emergency managers, the national weather service, and the media would act during massive flooding.
Dickinson, Iron, Menominee, Marinette, and Florence counties were represented during the exercise.
Organizers say the event helps WE Energies figure out where they can improve.
"It uncovers flaws, it uncovers things you didn't think about, it uncovers 'gee I was supposed to contact so and so but I don't know how to do it.' That makes your plan that much stronger for the next time and if an event should take place we'll be that much better prepared for when it happens," said Rick White of WE Energies.
WE Energies hosts the exercise every other year to make sure they are prepared.
