ESCANABA -- An Escanaba family is grateful for the show of community support after the home they were renting was severely burned in a Sunday morning fire.

Justin Caswell lived in the 405 South 12th Street home with his girlfriend, April Worley, and their two small children.

Around 9:30 a.m. Sunday, a fire broke out in the basement.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Caswell said the home is a total loss.  The family is currently staying with April's parents in Gladstone.

"Right now, we're looking to temporarily rent a place," said Caswell.  "Hopefully we can find somebody.  We've already heard of a couple of places that can just give us without a lease, and then after that we're thinking about an actual home possibly.  We're not sure yet, but I don't know.  We're going to figure it out."

A fund has been set up for the family at the Delta County Credit Union.
