ISHPEMING -- It can be tough to decide who makes the best cookies, but some folks have done exactly that.
Wednesday at the Mather Nursing Home, the employees competed against each other in a cookie contest. Residents attended the event.
The cookies were judged by a panel of judges which included local celebrities like Carl Pellonpaa, Elmer Aho, and Dr. Catherine Krole.
"Just an opportunity for our residents, for our employees, and likewise, people from the community, to get together just to have fun," said Activities Supervisor Pierre Ogea. "Also was an opportunity for our employee with the best recipe to earn a day off from work."
The winning cookie? Raspberry almond shortbread cookies.
The winner said that her secret ingredient was almond extract.
Those cookies will go downstate to compete in a statewide cookie competition.
