Bishop Sample ordained two new priests that will be serving in the U.P. on Friday

MARQUETTE -- The men were ordained in a ceremony at St. Peter Cathedral.

Nicholas Thompson of Menominee graduated from Central Michigan University with a teaching degree before attending Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit.

Ryan Ford of Escanaba also attended Central Michigan, where he studied music education and also attended Sacred Heart.

Both men look forward to serving God and the community through their ministries.

"It's just a joy to be here this day.  It's a culmination of many years of preparation, but it's also a new beginning of ministry here among the people and working among the people of the Diocese of Marquette," says Father Ryan Ford, newly ordained priest.

Ford will serve at St. Peter's Cathedral, while Thompson will serve at St. Michael's, both in Marquette.
