Vehicle will be tested for emissions and drivability
HOUGHTON -- After putting three years of work into their hybrid vehicle design, the Michigan Tech Eco Car team packed their car up for the final competition on Thursday. It took a number of hands and some heavy machinery to get their vehicle and supplies ready for transport.
The team will follow their car to the G.M. Proving Grounds in Milford, Michigan where it'll be tested on emissions, drivability and customer appeal. An awards ceremony will be held in Washington, D.C. for this year's best design and overall performance in the three-year competition.
”Hopefully when we get there, we will be able to do a little more work on our car,” said student advisor Jason Socha. “It will drive on electric power, I know that. Right now we're having some difficulties, but there are a couple of events that I know we'll do okay at.”
Michigan Tech is one of only 16 teams participating in the Eco Car Challenge. The competition starts this Sunday.
