HOUGHTON -- The city of Houghton is repainting street lines on Sharon Avenue in an effort to make the street a little safer.  Crews worked for several hours Wednesday afternoon, adding two turn lanes near where the road intersects Razorback Drive.

There have been a number of accidents in the area as many cars illegally pass those turning into the nearby shopping plazas.

The new lines have also narrowed the traffic lanes to provide more room on the side of the street for pedestrians and bicycles.
