MARQUETTE -- Update:  7:45 a.m. EST

A Marquette residence was fully engulfed in flames early Wednesday morning.

The Marquette City and Marquette Township fire departments were able to bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes.  The fire was completely extinguished in about two hours.

No injuries have been reported.  Two residents who lived on the second floor of the duplex awoke to the smell of smoke and crackling and were able to exit the rear of the structure.

Strong winds and other factors made it a difficult fire to extinguish.

"We did have live electrical lines laying on the ground in the vicinity of the gas meter," says Marquette City Fire Department Captain Scott Weymouth.  "With the assistance of the Board of Light and Power, we were able to de-energize those lines and spread our fire tact to the "b" side of the home."

No individuals were found inside the residence when crews conducted a primary search of the second floor and knocked down the front of the building to search the first floor.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it is believed to have started on the first floor and spread up to the attic.

Heavy damage has been caused to the structure.
